11-12 team TLP receives Ottawa Sports Award!

Congratulations to our 11-12 team TLP (2016-17) for receiving an Ottawa Sports Award, an annual amateur sports event that recognizes sporting excellence in the city of Ottawa!

Great Start to the Season at Lisa A & Ontario Winter Game Qualifiers!

Congratulations to all of our provincial swimmers for a great inaugural meet for 2018, at the Lisa Alexander Figures meet and the OWG qualifiers  in Etobicoke, January 18 to 21, 2018!

Highlights of the weekend included:
16-20 team TJB - 1st place in tech routine
Chloe Gavrilovic - 5th place in 13-15 figures
Sadie - 2nd place finish in SSWPD level 1 figures.  Qualified for OWG
13-15 team TLE - qualified for OWG

East Region Novice Skills Testing Competition

Congratulations to our 13-15 & 16-20 Novice Teams who participated in the East Regional Novice Skills Testing Competition on January 12, 2018.

All swimmers performed very well with Indigo Walker 1st, Susie Fox 2nd and Grave Wu 4th placing for the 13-15 teams. Coaches Caitlin Hayes and Rachel Enns. 

The 16-20 team held the top ten: Sabrina Fauteux 1st, Grace Lemon 2nd, Abby Howard 3rd, Lauren Corbett 5th, Kaitlyn Stewart 7th and Isabel Lee 8th. Coach Alex Chadwick.


Competition season begins for our University coaches!

The weekend of November 18 was an exciting and successful time for our Nepean Synchro coaches, who competed with their respective Universities at the CUSSL Invitational in Montreal.

The University of Ottawa Synchro Club placed 1st and Carleton University placed 5th in the competitive team event. 

Megan competed with U Ottawa in solo, while Mackenzie swam a duet with Carleton and placed 5th, as did Elly and Ellie's duet.

Nepean Synchro athletes selected to T2T!

Congratulations to Rowan, Sonia, Zoë, Sarah and Sally for being selected by Synchro Ontario to participate in the 2017-18 Train to Train High Performance Athlete Development Program!

The swimmers kicked off their training with a 3-day camp in Toronto this September. The highlight of the weekend was training with Canadian Olympic synchronized swimmer Jacqueline Simoneau, who also inspired the swimmers with a performance of her solo routine.

Nepean Synchro alumni reach new heights!

Kristin Stremlaw  has been selected as one of ten synchronized swimmers from across the country to join Synchro Canada’s Senior NextGen Team.  This group of athletes will begin preparing for the team that will represent Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Olivia Jensen-Large was chosen as one of 16 athletes in the 2017 Junior National Athlete Pool to potentially qualify for the National Team that will compete at the 2018 FINA Junior World Championships. 

Jade Warren was selected as a returning member of the 13-15 National Team, slated to compete in Portugal at the 2017 Mediterranean Cup in August.

Congratulations Kristin, Olivia and Jade! You are a wonderful inspiration to all our athletes!

Impressive Finish at Trilliums!

Nepean Synchro's four youngest teams and duets had a wonderful end of season at the 2017 Ontario Trilliums 12 and Under Open Championships here in Ottawa, including a Championship Trophy for our oldest 11-12 team TLP!

We received many compliments for a well run meet, thanks to the many hours of volunteering by all Nepean Synchro families and friends.  A special thank you goes out to Tara Whalen-Ralph for her exceptional organization skills as Meet Manager.

Great end of season at Age Groups and Espoir!

Congratulations to all swimmers on a great showing at the Ontario Open Age Group Championships in Etobicoke, May 24-28, 2017.  Nepean Synchro swimmers can be proud that their hard work this year paid off with strong swims at all levels!  Highlights include:

Silver medals: 11-12 duet DJT; 16-20 team TSL
Bronze medals: 11-12 team TLP
4th place ribbons: 13-15 solo Amelia Bennet; 16-20 figures Madisyn Smith
5th place ribbons: 11-12 duet DSC
6th place ribbons: 11-12 figures Sonia Dunn

These championships were also an opportunity to recognize the club's swimmer, coach and volunteer of the year. This year, swimmer Natasha Strong, coach Shannon Castledine and volunteer Michelle St. Cyr received their awards at the annual banquet held during the championship competition. 

Congratulations also to team TEE for ending their first year swimming at the national level with a strong performance (14 out of 30 teams) on June 1, 2017, at the Canadian Espoir Championships in London Ontario.

Nepean Synchro donates to Boys and Girls Club

This year, proceeds totaling $550 from the year-end water show held April 29, 2017, were donated to The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa.  They will be purchasing much needed life jackets for their pool.  Thanks to all spectators for their donations!
