Nepean families - your contributions through the Watershow and competitive demo raised $2102 for Bell Let’s Talk Clara’s Big Ride! After many talks throughout the country, Clara spoke on Parliament Hill after completing her 110 day bike journey on Canada Day. The following link provides some insight on her travels and celebrations at Rideau Hall where the Governor General presented Clara with the Meritorious Service Cross:

This is an excerpt from Clara's blog on the final day of her ride:

July 1, 2014 Day 110

"Until today, my proudest moment as a Canadian was watching the beautiful maple leaf unfurl as I carried Canada’s flag into the opening ceremonies at our home Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. Today, I felt that same connection and support from Canadians across the country as I biked onto the stage at Parliament Hill for the final metres of Clara’s Big Ride.

Thank you to the communities across Canada. You embraced this ride and our team and helped share our message with so many more. You have made a difference both locally at a grassroots level and nationally as you lent your collective voices to the conversation of mental wellness.

Thank you to the politicians nationally, provincially and locally. You signed your name as a commitment to working towards a stigma-free Canada – now let’s keep working to make this goal a reality for the next generation.

Thank you to the youth. Your voice has carried us through our 80 school visits and our many more community events. You are the next generation and you have the ability to end the stigma of mental illness for your peers.

Thank you Canada. You cared about the conversation we have started about mental health. Now let’s make sure that we continue to carry on this conversation together." - Clara Hughes
