Recreational/Novice Coaches for 2015/2016

Recreational Program Head Coach
Izabelle Pytura

Izabelle has been coaching synchronized swimming for more than 15 years. Originally from Gatineau, she joined Nepean Synchro in September 2014 and is very excited about continuing her journey with the club. Along with coaching a 13-15 competitive team, Izabelle is the club’s Recreational/Novice Head Coach for the 2015-16 season. Izabelle is also involved with Synchro Québec as an instructor for new coaches and as a referee in competitions. In her personal life, she teaches History and Geography at a Gatineau high school.


Emily Armstrong

Emily started synchro when she was 10 years old in Victoria BC. She found her home with Nepean Synchro and this is her fourth year swimming with the club. Emily is swimming on a 16-20 competitive team this year. She has enjoyed being an assistant coach in the past and is very excited to coach this year.




Elise Bordeleau

Elise is attending Woodroffe H.S. and completing her final year of high school. This will be her ninth and final year swimming in competitive synchro and her third year coaching! Elise spent her summer working as a lifeguard as she is fully trained. She has coached a Level 1 team, as well as Synchro Squirts. Elise is very excited to be coaching Saturday's Synchro Squirts this year, in addition to a novice duet! She will also be swimming on the 16-20 competitive team and is looking forward to an amazing year!


Ellena Damini

Ellena is currently in Grade 10 at St. Paul High School. She is going into her 5th year of competitive synchro, and is swimming on a 16-20 competitive team this season. In 2014, Ellena had the opportunity to take part in the Ontario Winter Games with her teammates in the Muskokas where they earned gold. Alongside synchronized swimming, she has completed Bronze Cross in lifesaving and is working towards her qualifications to become a certified lifeguard. She has assistant coached two Level 1 teams in the past and is super excited to be leading a Level 1 team this year. Ellena is looking forward to a great season! 



Lindsay Damini

Lindsay is currently in Grade 12 at St. Paul High School. She is going into her 5th year of competitive swimming with Nepean Synchro, and is a member of the 16-20 competitive team. She is a certified lifeguard, having achieved her NLS, and this is her third year coaching. Lindsay assistant coached a Synchro Squirts team in the past, as well as Level 1 teams for two years. She is extremely excited to be coaching the Synchro Squirts team on Tuesdays this year! Lindsay is looking forward to a fun and exciting year!


Caitlin Hayes

Caitlin has been involved in synchro since she was in grade 5. Since it was always hard for her to find a sport she enjoyed, the moment she had her first recreational practice she fell in love with the sport! This is Caitlin's fifth year swimming competitively with Nepean Synchro. Caitlin is certified in Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid with CPR-C as well as being a certified Water Safety Instructor. She is in grade 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Highschool. In the past, Caitlin was an assistant coach for two consecutive years. Caitlin is extremely excited for this season, as it is her first year coaching a recreational team! She absolutely cannot wait to share her love and passion of synchro with everyone she meets!


Brianna Kelly

Brianna started synchro at the age of nine. She is currently in 11th grade at Franco-Ouest. She has her NLS certification and hopes to work as a lifeguard one day. Brianna is in her 6th year in competitive swimming with Nepean Synchro and is a member of  the 16-20 competitive team. She coached a Synchro Squirts team last year, and is coaching a Saturday L1/2 this year. Brianna is super excited for the upcoming season!

Mallory Leclair

Mallory has been a swimmer her whole life. She started in the recreational program when she was 7 and then did 2 years of it before moving on to competitive synchro. The 2015-2016 season will be her eighth year involved in this unique sport. Mallory is super excited because this is her first year coaching and she plans on having an amazing season.






Kassia Makris

Kassia fell in love with synchronized swimming at 7 years old, when she first dove into the pool. Nine years later and swimming on the 16-20 competitive team, she is currently in grade ten at John Mccrae Secondary School, and working towards her qualifications to become a lifeguard. After assistant coaching for 1-1/2 years and coaching Synchro Squirts last year, she is super excited to be coaching Thursday's Level 1/2 team this year. Kassia is really looking forward to another awesome season!  




Lindsay Pinch
Lindsay is entering her tenth year of being a part of Nepean Synchro. She swam a team routine every year and has had the opportunity to swim a combo and a duet over the years. She is currently in her first year of an Honours in BA degree with Specialization in Psychology (French immersion) at the University of Ottawa, where she hopes to continue swimming as a Gee-Gee. In the summer, Lindsay is the KemptvilleBluefins Swim Team Coach, as well as a certified lifeguard/swim instructor for the Municipality of North Grenville. She has coached at the recreational level for three years and is excited to coach a competitive 11-12 duet and figure group this season, along with a novice team.


Lauren Stokes

Lauren is in Grade 12 at Merivale High School. She swam with Nepean Synchro for nine years and is entering her seventh year of competitive swimming. Lauren is NLS certified, and is working as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the City of Ottawa. This is Lauren’s second year coaching a recreational team and she is really looking forward to a great year with her Level 4 class!






Addy Strickland

Addy is a grade eleven student at West Carleton Secondary School. She started synchro at age 8, and swam for 7 years with Nepean Synchro before completing her final competitive season last spring. Addy has completed all Bronze Standard lifesaving programs and is training to become a lifeguard and instructor. After assisting for two years and coaching a Synchro Squirts team last year, she is super excited to take on the challenge of a novice duet this season! Addy is looking forward to a spectacular season!



Jen Tinneberg

Jennifer first started synchronized swimming at the age of 12, when she joined a recreational club. After seeing a Nepean Synchro water show, she knew she had to tryout. Jennifer swam competitively with the club for four seasons, swimming Team, Combo & Duet, and then swam Masters for three years. After coaching competitively for 5 seasons with the Nepean Synchro, she took 2 years off to travel. Jennifer has returned to Ottawa to pursue her studies in Early Childhood Education, and is very excited to be rejoining the club for the 2015-2016 season, as an 11-12 Team Coach & a Novice Team Coach.


Winnie Zhang

Winnie is currently in Grade 12 at John McCrae Secondary School. She started synchro at the age of 9 and swam with Nepean Synchro for 8 years. Winnie is NLS certified and is currently training to become a lifeguard. This is Winnie’s first year coaching a recreational team and she is really excited for this year with her Level 3 team!
